Patch Editor Hits Parks for 'Give 5' Day

Picking up litter will be my sole job duty for a few hours on Thursday.

Thursday, May 10, is a "Give 5" Day for Patch.com employees nationwide.

In a nutshell, it means we volunteer our time to help out in some way.

Local editors across the country will be going out into their communities not to cover a meeting or an event on Thursday—although, we can never rule that out—but to lend a hand making those communities just a bit better, one Patch employee's efforts at a time.

Personally, I've decided to make my third "Give 5" Day of the year—my first was spent at the Camden County Animal Shelter, in Blackwood, on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, my second supporting TOM'S Shoes "One Day Without Shoes" campaign—all about trash.

That's right—I'm going to head to a few parks or ball fields between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to collect litter.

I plan to hit two parks. At this moment, I'm not exactly sure where I'm going to go, but I have a few ideas. Any suggestions?
