Police Nab Alleged Scrap-Metal Thief

A Clementon man was caught with stove parts, range hoods and other metallic kitchen items in his car, police said.

A 25-year-old Clementon man was arrested and charged with stealing scrap metal from vacant units at the Maple Terrace Apartments, Gloucester Township said Wednesday.

William Harris, of 800 block of Tory Estates in Clementon, was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, after police arrested him.

Police said they found Harris in the parking lot of the apartments Tuesday with a car "full of scrap metal from kitchen appliances." The items included stove parts, range hoods and other metallic kitchen items.

Harris was held at the Camden County jail on a cash bail of $25,000.
