Rec Department's Spring Registration Around Corner

The recreation department will open registration for spring classes March 14.

Registration for the rec department's spring 2011 programs will begin Monday, March 14.

Anyone interested in signing up for the myriad programs must do so in person at the recreation center at 80 Broadacres Dr. (Clementon mailing address for GPS and Mapquest purposes).

Non-residents can join rec department programs for an additional $10.

Registration will continue for each program until capacity is reached.

The following adult programs are being offered this spring:

* Pilates Core Plus—Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., April 11 through June 6, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $40 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Zumba—Tuesdays from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m., April 5 through May 31, at Point Ariel Park; Saturdays from 8 to 9 a.m., April 2 through June 11, at the recreation center. Cost: $40 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Summer Bodies—Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., April 12 through May 31, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $40 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Body Boot Camp—Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m., April 6 through June 8, at the recreation center. Cost: $50 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* T'ai Chi Chih—Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., April 6 through June 8, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $50 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Yoga Basic I—Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., April 6 through June 8, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $50 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Yoga Basic II - Wednesdays from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m., April 6 through June 8, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $50 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Jazzercise—Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the recreation center. Registration through the recreation department also entitles you to classes at outside locations. Check with the rec department for more details, including dates, for Jazzercise. Cost: $30 to instructor, $5 to Gloucester Township.

* Sewing—Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., April 4 through May 23, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $70 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

The following youth programs are being offered this spring:

* SAT Prep—Two six-week sessions are being offered at Point Ariel Park for sophomores, juniors and seniors—one between March 31 and May 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. each Thursday, the other between April 28 and June 2 from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. each Thursday. Cost: $250 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township (registration fee includes the Princeton Review's SAT study guide).

* Imagination to Action—For children 3 1/2 to 5 years old, this program focuses on building academic and social skills, and will be offered Fridays April 1 through June 3, from 9:15 a.m. to noon, at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $115 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Camp Kindergarten—For children 4 to 6 years old, this program gives you the opportunity to expand upon your child's pre-K or kindergarten curriculum, and will be offered Fridays April 1 through June 3, from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m., at Point Ariel Park. Cost: $100 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Karate Fundamentals—For children in grades K-4, this program teaches kids the basics of karate, and will be offered Wednesdays April 6 through May 25, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the recreation center. Cost: $40 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Clay for Kids—This program will be offered over two sessions to different age groups. On Tuesdays May 3 through May 24, it will be offered to children ages 7 to 9. On Mondays May 2 through May 23, it will be offered to children ages 10 to 13. Both classes will meet at Point Ariel Park, from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Cost: $80 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Pottery for the Young and Old—Join your 4- to 6-year-old child or grandchild for some fun with pottery at Point Ariel Park on Saturday, May 7, and Saturday, May 14. Cost: $40 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Dance—This dance basics program will be offered over two sessions to different age groups Mondays, April 4 to June 6. Classes for children ages 2 to 4 will be held from 5 to 6 p.m.; classes for children 5 and 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. Cost: $50 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* JumpBunch Sports & Fitness—This 45-minute program, which teaches children basic athletic functions, will be offered to two age groups (two different sessions for 3- to 5-year-olds) over eight weeks at the recreation center. On Mondays, beginning at 4 p.m., April 4 through May 23, children ages 3 to 5 can participate; on Wednesdays, beginning at 5:30 (3 to 5 years old) and 6:30 (6 to 8 years old), April 6 through May 25. Cost: $65 to JumpBunch, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* JumpBunch Toddlers—30-minute classes for toddlers ages 2 and 3 are to be offered Mondays at 3:15, April 4 through May 23, at the recreation center. Cost: $55 to JumpBunch, $10 to Gloucester Township.

* Youth Quickstart Tennis—This program will be offered to two different age groups (two sessions for 6- to 8-year-olds) over six Saturdays, April 9 through May 14 (rain dates of May 21 and June 4) at Gloucester Township Park. There will be 8:45 to 9:55 a.m. and 10 to 11:10 a.m. sessions for 6- to 8-year-olds and an 11:15 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. session for 8- to 10-year-olds. Cost: $55 to instructor, $10 to Gloucester Township.
