Township Scholarship Fund Awards $40K to Students

There were 433 Gloucester Township students eligible for the awards.

The 26th annual Gloucester Township college scholarship drawing was held at Monday night's council meeting.

Forty township students received a promise of $1,000 toward first-year college expenses. Ten alternates were also chosen to receive the funding if one of the original 40 does not attend college. The alternates will receive $100 toward their college costs if they aren't elevated to a $1,000 scholarship.

Dick Hollinshead, the treasurer of the fund, said fundraisers are held throughout the year for the awards. The fund has given away over $1 million since its inception.
