What's Open, What's Closed on Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Municipal offices are closed on Thursday and Friday, but the post office is open on Friday.

While Thanksgiving Day is considered a federal holiday, the following day is not.

Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season for many, although many stores are opening Thanksgiving night this year and many people already have their holiday shopping at least halfway done.

But while it constitutes the kickoff to the holiday shopping season and many private sector companies take the day off, the federal and state governments remain open for business, including post offices.
