Holiday (Sports) Gift Guide

Everyone has a sports fanatic in the family, so I compiled a list of a few great gift ideas.

With just a few days to go before Christmas, I know you haven't finished your shopping. My brief disappearance from my writing was probably because I spent way too much time at the mall, and online, checking gifts off my list.

Everyone has a sports fanatic in the family, so I compiled a list of a few great gift ideas:

Flyers
Winter Classic tickets are a dream gift, however, unless you frequently spend thousands on your significant other, it is probably out of the question. As I had mentioned in my last post, the Alumni Game and AHL game are a much cheaper ticket option. A Winter Classic jersey? Another good idea, but good luck finding one, as lots of local stores have been selling out as quick as they come in.
An option for the Scott Hartnell fan, or obsessive Twitter-er, may be this shirt. Inspired by a hashtag (#hartnelldown) that poked fun at the skater's inability to stay on his feet, this shirt says it all. Scotty really does fall down a lot. He recently joined Twitter (@Hartsy19) and embraced the joke. Good news is, if you buy the shirt from the site, he is donating a portion of the money to charity.

Phillies:
Now is a great time to buy Phillies stuff for the ladies in your life. Most items that are a part of the MLB/Pink line at Victoria's Secret are discounted this time of year, and it's perfect for any female fan. Grandparents retired to Florida? No problem! Phillies spring training tickets are on sale—plan a trip down to surprise grandma and take her to a game. Who doesn't need a quick weekend getaway in March? Brighthouse Field is a great place to take in a game, and very kid- and senior-friendly. You’ll be close to the action, so no need to worry about climbing up to section 407 and really ... it's Florida. No complaints.

Eagles:
For the first time in years, I did not buy one person an Eagles-themed gift. It’s been a rough season, but there are still some gems on the Eagles website. This is my favorite "most misunderstood" gift: The Gnome.

Sadly, you know that you have that crazy Eagles fan on your list who already has enough shirts and jerseys, but would put this proudly in their yard. The gnome creeps me out a bit, and also might scare kids. If you're stuck for an idea for the kids, go with a pillow pet instead.

Sixers:
Well the NBA is back ... and the Sixers have a brand new ownership group that is trying to turn this team around. For the month of January all upper-level tickets to Sixers home games are being offered for $17.76. The compressed schedule gives fans 13 opportunities in January to check out the new product. Maybe I’ll even go to a game. Check out the schedule here

Happy shopping!
