Obituary: Charles R. "Bud" Dawalt III

Mr. Dawalt died Dec. 20. He was 67.

Charles R. “Bud” Dawalt III, of Somerdale (Gloucester Township), NJ, passed away on Dec. 20, 2012, at the age of 67 years. Beloved husband of Kathleen Dawalt (nee Knapp). Devoted father of C.R. Dawalt of Lindenwold, Robert Dawalt (Jennifer), of Haddon Township, and Josh Dawalt of Somerdale. Proud grandfather of C.J., Robbie, Ally, Tommy and Lilly. Dear brother of Cheryl Butler, of Riverside, Lewis Dawalt (Marie), of Buena, and Alice Jane Kramer (Gary) of Blackwood. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bud was a retired police officer with the Gloucester Township Police Department, retiring at the rank of corporal. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, and retiree of the Inactive Army Reserve. He also served on the Blackwood Lake Committee, Gloucester Township Historical Committee, Glendora Rescue Squad, Blackwood Ambulance Squad, Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Co., and was a life member of the Chews Landing Fire Department.

Viewing will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where a funeral service will begin at noon. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory would be appreciated to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
