Why is the GTBOE taking Team Mayer money?
The GTBOE incumbents took $7800 from a Team Mayer PAC. I want to know why!
According to ELEC reports from the campaign of Collins, Gilch, and Reese on 9/19/13, they accepted $7800 from one of Team Mayer's PACs that are funded by municipal vendors such as Blue Sky Power (who, because of their close personal ties with David Mayer was rewarded with approximately $700,000 for those solar panels that have beautified our children's educational experience). To clear any confusion of who owns this PAC, it's name is "Association of Former Gloucester Township Democratic Mayors". I assume there will be more reported as we get closer to the election but this is what is documented for now.
Which leads me to ask the question of why is Team Mayer so concerned with owning the school boards too. Here are some possible reasons:
1. With a honest school board, Council Vice-President Orlando Mercado will be fired and so will many of the other Team Mayer players who have patronage jobs. A steady reward for their minions will be cut off. Handing out jobs for your political workers is called "patronage".
2. They lose the opportunity to reward their friends and donors through contracts. As previously mentioned Blue Sky are close friends of Mayer. Pennoni, who has the contract for the new HVAC at Mullen are also donors.
3. Solicitor Wade would be fired for his lack of knowledge and general incompetence. His law firm is where all of those pictures of elected officials in front of a set of green books are held and they are one of the largest donors to Team Mayer.
Our schools are supposed to be non-political but clearly these three running for re-election (long after they have kids in the system) have abused their public trust in rewarding their friends and donors. It is time to clean house and keep TAKE BACK OUR SCHOOLS from Team Mayer. Our schools belong to the CHILDREN, not the politicians.
How does a non-paid school board race get the funds to pay for a billboard and multiple mass mailings? Ask yourself what is so important for Team Mayer to keep control of that they would spend these kidns of funds against a set of honest men without a massive war chest built off the backs of our property tax dollars handed out to our schools vendors? Money in contracts that could have gone to teachers and support staff but is instead being used to reward Team Mayer's friends.
There is no place for patronage in our schools! There is no place for taking away money from teachers and support staff to reward David Mayer's friends! On November 5th you have that chance. Vote for three honest men who are refusing to bring partisan politics into their campaign.
