Hey, the Kids Are Alright...Right?

Do yourself a favor, don't look up and open your mouth during the next rainstorm because you might be breaking the law.

Now, on an entirely different subject…

If you have followed any of Michelle Wolfson’s columns about "going green," so to speak, you might be having a little problem with the law soon. Apparently, what has normally been the subject of jokes and derision-ary comments about the encroachment of government in our lives has now seemed to become a good idea to some regulatory geniuses. While you were joking about the government taxing your oxygen intake, the government bureaucrats have probably been looking into a way to actually implement that to both raise revenue and keep you under the jack-boot of government control. As a first step to that we discover that there probably should be no such thing as free water even though Mother Earth provides it freely and our founding fathers held property ownership to be a basic condition of liberty. So, the collection of rain water on your own property is now in jeopardy. Check it out here.

Do yourself a favor, don’t look up and open your mouth during the next rainstorm, because you might be breaking the law and you might be seen doing so on one of our red-light cameras. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Seriously, it’s not OK to collect rain water but it is OK to collect energy from the sun? I believe a tax on solar and wind energy collection is in order.

While we’re on the subject, try a few of these on for fit…

  • A town in California has made it illegal to smoke in your own backyard.
  • A church along the Mardi Gras parade route in Louisiana was ordered to cease its free water giveaway activity because of a lack of proper permits, such as an occupational license and a sales tax number.
  • If you sell fresh milk from your farm’s cows to your neighbor, you could find yourself on the receiving end of pre-dawn surveillance and inspections by the feds. You see, the FDA has gone on record stating, “…raw milk (i.e., unpasteurized) should never be consumed.”
  • If your farm in Minnesota is just outside the Lake Elmo city limits you better not get caught selling your products in the city because it is illegal. Hmmmm, I wonder if all those products being sold at the Saturday Blackwood Farm Market are actually grown within Gloucester Township limits? (Hey, Radical Blogger, check this one out!)
  • Hazelwood, MO, is dropping the hammer on ‘Girl Scout cookie sales’ enterprises operating in private front yards.
  • Are your children possibly operating an unpermitted ‘lemonade stand’ in your front yard?

Moving right along, I can’t help but watch in disbelief over the brouhaha that has erupted over the accidental burning of a couple of Korans and the actions of our President and his cult of “Sorry Obama-ites” as they’ve stumbled all over the map trying to implement damage control. Where is Brenda Lee when you need her? It’s like watching the Energizer Bunny banging his drum and going in circles repeating, “I’m sorry, sooooo sorry.” I’m wondering how sorry people are over the U.S. soldiers and others that have been killed in the mayhem. Obama assures us that his apology had the desired effect and then two more soldiers are killed. Gee, I wonder what happens when his apology doesn’t work? Meanwhile, Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense for those who don’t know, knows nothing about a $750,000 soccer field constructed from taxpayer monies for the Gitmo detainees. When was the last time the Fed sent your school three-quarters of a million dollars for its sports program?

One last thought; are you happy with where gas prices are going? You should be if you voted for Barack Obama. According to MSNBC, regular gasoline was at an average of $1.79/gal when Obama was inaugurated; now we’re looking at $3.60/gal in Gloucester Township and rising daily. Mr. Obama stated up front that energy was going to get very expensive during his tenure and that he would essentially use this technique to force us into alternative energy sources. A couple of days ago Energy Secretary Steven Chu was quoted saying that the DOE “isn’t working to lower gasoline prices directly…(because)…high gasoline prices will make research into such alternatives more urgent.” Forget about the fact that oil and natural gas are extremely plentiful in the U.S. and next door in Canada, Green government busybodies want us to stop using such a cheap fuel source because readily available energy makes it more difficult to control the citizenry. So, at your expense, the Obama administration seems to be pleased that prices are putting the pinch on you because then you will stop complaining about all the taxpayer giveaways to green technology companies that ended in bankruptcies, because, after all, it’s all for the development of alternative energy sources. And let us not forget that all the people on the receiving end of the green technology billion dollar giveaways were contributors, campaigners and personal friends of Team Obama.

Please, someone…anyone, show me where I’m wrong in all of this.
