The Emperor Has No Clothes!

Mr. Obama "comes out" in favor of same-sex marriage but then agrees that it's a states' rights issue. The best of both worlds—I do and I don't!

There is a giant pink elephant in the room but just as the emperor’s courtiers neglected to inform the emperor that he had no clothes, so our mainstream media ignores the elephant in the room and the stench that goes along with it.

Sandra Fluke is an innocent young college student attending Georgetown University who just wanted a little help with her health-care costs so she could continue to pay the exorbitant tuition costs associated with her pursuit of a law degree from prestigious Georgetown U., right? Wrong!

Sandra Fluke is a thirty-something, long-time activist dedicated to women’s health issues itching to make Georgetown’s Jesuits pay for birth control for its students. While paying over $50,000 a year to attend Georgetown, she felt the need to have free birth control; forget about the fact that anybody could run down to the local Planned Parenthood clinic just 1.78 miles from her dorm and get free birth control. So she goes before a Senate subcommittee and trumpets to the world that she needs access to free birth control. And why would that be? Is she married or is she just carrying on in such a way that she needs protection? Remember when birth control was a personal issue that you really didn’t want to broadcast all over the public square? And why is it my obligation to provide her with such protection? Does she have any student loans, I wonder? If so, we’re already subsidizing her education; an education that is costing $50,000 a year—an amount which most, if not all, of us could never afford for ourselves or our children.

So, this is what the media concentrates on during the run-up to a presidential election while the elephant shifts from foot to foot and the stench in the room becomes ever more pervasive.

Trayvon Martin was an innocent teenager who probably never did a bad thing in his life, right? Look, I’m not going to try to sensationalize or take advantage of an already tragic situation. Enough people have already done that, so I’ll let this one go with two short comments. Mr. Obama did nothing but play into the hands, knowingly or otherwise, of the crowd down in Sanford that were looking to make hay out of a local tragedy. In addition, we now have Trayvon’s parents, divorced in 1999 when Trayvon was a toddler, quitting their jobs to go on tour to push an agenda and Trayvon’s mother filing for copyrights on two phrases using her son’s name…for what?

Again the elephant goes unmentioned but not really unnoticed.

Mitt Romney is a calloused abuser of animals who has recently been "outed" as a high school bully, right? Wrong!

Mr. Romney, with a growing family, made the choice to affix his family pet’s carrying cage to the top of his station wagon. Do you own a pet? Did you ever observe a dog hanging its head out of a car window while traveling at 60 mph? I had my dog in the car once and wrapped her leash around the passenger seat to keep her close and then cracked the window open to what I thought was a safe amount. My dog squeezed through the opening and almost hung herself while I stopped and got out of the car to run around to the other side to unleash her. The fact is that Mr. Romney’s dog went nuts when it saw him put the cage on the car because the dog loved to ride up there.

And now we’re informed that, 50 years ago, Mr. Romney was involved in a school prank that would probably pale in comparison to what might be revealed about all of us if Patch solicited stories about what all of its readers did in high school. A few hours old and the story was already unraveling as a hit job that had been creatively edited by the laughable Washington Post to make it appear as something that it is not.

This about a presumptive candidate for president; but what did we ever learn from the media about the man who is our current president? As a child Barack Obama couldn’t be bothered to abuse a dog because he would rather eat the dog. Seriously, how much do you know about Mr. Obama’s school years? Have we seen any of his transcripts? Do you know about Mr. Obama’s cocaine use and other drug abuse? Are you aware of his associations with radicals who co-founded the Weather Underground and participated in, amongst other activities, the bombings of NYC Police Department headquarters (1970), the US Capitol Building (1971), and the Pentagon (1972)?

Again the elephant nervously shifts its stance hoping to move away from its pile of excreted bodily waste that the media is all too willing to ignore while the stench permeates the entire media circus.

In case you don’t know, the pink elephant in the room is the economy. In early 2009, Mr. Obama promised that if his $831 billion stimulus package was implemented, the unemployment rate (then at 7.8 percent) would not rise beyond 8 percent. Having awoken from that dream we find a nightmare that is getting worse each day. We now have more people who have completely given up looking for work since the 1980s. Meanwhile, we are given the "good" news that our most recent unemployment numbers are at 8.1 percent. Since when has unemployment north of 8 percent been considered good news? This figure deceptively ignores the millions of people who have effectively been dropped from the unemployment figures because they have given up actively seeking employment. The inclusion of the millions who have given up actually puts our unemployment rate at 11 percent; and there are the millions who are under-employed at a rate thought to be about 17.6 percent. Mr. Obama has characterized our "recovery" as "speeding up." What would it take for the president to admit that his policies were failing? I rue that day.

So, there is a huge pile of elephant manure in the room along with its owner, the pink elephant, and while we can all see it and smell it, the press ignores it and continues to report on the many circuses coming to town. PT Barnum would have a field day with all of this.

Mr. Obama’s fiscal policies have been a total failure and we are nearing complete collapse, approaching $16 trillion of debt. Yet Mr. Obama admits that he sometimes forgets how bad things are and then speeds away to party with Clooney and company at a $15 million dollar fund-raising event. All the while , Mr. Obama attempts to curry favor with special interest groups by pandering to the gay and Hollyweird communities by “coming out” in favor of same-sex marriage. Then in the same breath, he states he will do nothing to promote same-sex marriage because, after all, it is a states’ rights issue. The best of both worlds—I do and I don’t.
