The Tyranny of Government: Is it Real?

Some tense times ensued just recently down near Mesquite, Nevada, on the Cliven Bundy Ranch. Were you paying attention?

Two-hundred SWAT-style law-enforcement officers, under the direction of the Bureau of Land Management, swarmed Cliven Bundy’s ranch and we’re all supposed to keep our mounts shut, after all, Mr. Obama has told us that “you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that's at the root of all our problems.” That’s funny, in contradistinction to Mr. Obama, Ronald Reagan said, “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”

Contrary to the fears of our founders, Mr. Obama went on to say, “…these same voices…warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices.”

The idea of tyranny in government should be rejected? Hmmm, that’s funny…

“The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, I’m from the government, and I’m here to help” (Ronald Reagan).

“A government is like fire, a handy servant, but a dangerous master” (George Washington).

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government” (Thomas Jefferson).

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government lest it come to dominate our lives and interests” (Patrick Henry).

What was it that President Ronald Reagan understood that President Obama does not? Mr. Obama attempts to cast himself as a professor of the Constitution, a Constitutional scholar…that he is not. His idea is to enlarge government, making it ever bigger and bigger. Apparently we can’t start and run a successful business without government, we can’t get enough to eat without government help, and we can’t raise and care for our families without government intervention. In fact, government must be in bed with us always watching, providing us with birth control because, after all, sex without consequence is a basic human right and has to be guaranteed by government…and the ability to express ourselves sexually without consequence must be paid for by someone else. And when all else fails, so as not to burden you unnecessarily, government will provide you with the path to rid yourself of the lump of cells now forming in your body…unless of course you are one of the chosen, aka Chelsea Clinton, whose pregnancy will be celebrated by the lap-dog media and we will all offer fealty and kiss the hand of the anointed queen Hillary and her brood. “What difference does it make?” (thanks to Hillary for that quote)

So, are you sickened yet?

Okay, fast forward to the Cliven Bundy Ranch outside of Mesquite, NV. Was it really necessary to swarm the place with two-hundred federal agents, armed to the teeth and traveling in SUVs and armored vehicles with full SWAT gear and fully-automatic weaponry? Americans who came in support of Cliven Bundy sat upon horses to face this military-style force. Is this what it’s come to?

BTW, why was it that Mr. Obama saw fit to shoot off his mouth when local law-enforcement, doing its appointed job, stopped and questioned a friend of Mr. Obama's that appeared suspicious in the way he was trying to get into a house in Cambridge, MA, and Mr. Obama also saw fit to comment on the Zimmerman/Martin case, a local Florida law enforcement issue, but has not uttered a peep over two-hundred Federales, military style goons on bullhorns, storming the Bundy Ranch in Nevada to go after one man who hasn’t paid want the Bureau of Land Management say he owes for grazing rights?

Is that enough tyranny for you or do you agree with Mr. Obama that there is nothing to see here?  I guess this is the American that makes pride swell up in the bosom of Mrs. Obama.
