71 Accidents, Traffic Incidents in Gloucester Township Friday

A private ambulance slid off the road and overturned in one of the incidents.

Icy roads from frozen precipitation Friday morning led to 71 accidents and traffic incidents reported to Gloucester Township police, including a seven-car pile up and an overturned ambulance.

No serious injuries were immediately reported in any of the incidents, police said.

The ambulance accident occurred near Sicklerville and Hickstown roads shortly after 8 a.m. The vehicle had no patients and there were no injuries reported.

A police car on the side of the road responding to an accident on Erial Road was struck by a sliding car in a separate incident. The location of the seven-car pile up was not included in a police report Friday.

All of the accidents were reported during a three-hour period from 7 a.m. to 10:12 a.m. Precipitation falling on frozen roadways plagued the entire Delaware Valley on Friday.

Saturday's weather is expected to bring drenching rain with warmer temperatures reaching 60 degrees.
