After 100 MPH Chase, 2 Men Arrested for a Township Burglary

Two Gloucester County men were put behind bars.

Two Gloucester County men were arrested Friday after eluding Gloucester Township Police on a 100-mph chase on Route 42.

The pair were eventually caught in Woodbury in the 1100 block of Lewis Terrace, at the home where the car was registered. Police obtained the license-plate number during the chase before it was aborted.

Mark Gannon, 44, the driver, was charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy to commit burglary and eluding. He was held at the Camden County Jail on a $125,000 bail. Daniel Bennis, 25, from the 100 block of W. Olive St., Westville, was charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy to commit burglary. He was held on $75,000 bail.

The incident started in the 100 Block of Furman Drive, in the Glendora section of the township. A neighbor called police shortly after 2:30 p.m. when he saw the men and thought they had just burglarized a home. They fled before police arrived, but the neighbor followed them in a car and relayed their location to police.

Officers found the vehicle on Evesham Road and attempted a stop. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed when the cops turned on their emergency warning lights, police said. The vehicle sped towards the Deptford Mall and then entered  Route 42 northbound.

Woodbury Police found the vehicle in the 1100 block of Lewis Terrace and saw stolen items in the rear of it, township police said. Investigators said they believe the men are also responsible for other burglaries and thefts throughout Camden and Gloucester counties.
