Knife-Wielding Robber Threatens Target Workers, Police Say

Jimmy Travis, 31, reportedly injured a Target employee in a scuffle over children's toys.

An Atco man is jailed on $250,000 after police say he threatened Target employees with a knife after allegedly shoplifting hundreds of dollars in children’s educational products.

Two Target employees tried to stop Jimmy Travis, 31, of Pinehurst Drive, as he reportedly exited with store Friday afternoon with $400 in LeapPad merchandise.

Travis began to fight with the employees, Gloucester Township Police say, and pulled out a pocketknife to threaten them. He fled the Berlin Cross Keys Road store.

Police tracked down Travis’s car in the nearby ShopRite shopping center further down Berlin Cross Keys Road and took Travis into custody without incident.

Travis’s bail was set at $250,000 for charges of robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was held at Camden County Correctional Facility.

A Target employee who suffered minor injuries in the fight was examined at a hospital and released.
