Another Escalation of Heroin Overdoses Reported in Camden County This Weekend

Twenty overdoses were reported over the weekend.

Camden County Police are reporting a spike in heroin overdoses, as 20 incidents were reported over the weekend, the Courier Post reports.

It was the second time this month the county police department has reported some sort of spike in overdoses. On March 11 and 12, 15 overdoses were reported, but none proved fatal.

An additional 20 cases were reported on Friday and Saturday, including one fatality, according to the report.

Most of the cases were reported in Camden, but one person who survived an overdose hailed from Blackwood, according to the report.

Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said the Overdose Prevention Act prevented more fatalities, according to the report.

The act protects anyone who reports an overdose from legal action.
