Man Charged in Pair of Burglaries

Cherry Hill Police charged a Berlin man with two counts of burglary in connection with two burglaries that occurred on Feb. 6, according to the department’s Facebook page.

William S. Cole, 40, was also charged with theft and criminal mischief in connection with burglaries on the 300 block of Wexford Drive and the 200 block of Highgate Lane.

He was remanded to Camden County Jail in lieu of $75,000 full cash bail.

In each incident, Cole is accused of kicking in the front door and stealing jewelry and electronics. After an extensive investigation, police arrested Cole at a residence in Atco on Feb. 24.

Police recovered a Playstation at a local pawn shop and were able to return it to the original owner, who was able to provide a serial number showing the video game system belonged to them.

Police said they often recover items that have been lost or stolen and can’t be returned to the original owner because that person can’t provide identifiers or didn’t previously record the serial numbers.

Police encourage residents to photograph jewelry, artwork and other precious items and to engrave or etch items of value. Keeping receipts, valuations and lists of serial numbers in a safe place aids police in returning lost and stolen property to its rightful owner.
