Blackwood 7-Eleven Robbed at Knifepoint

Police have released video surveillance from the store in hopes someone will recognize the suspect.

The 7-Eleven on Church Street in Blackwood was robbed at knifepoint late Thursday night, police said.

Gloucester Township Police release surveillance video and images from the robbery Friday afternoon. The two-minute-plus video and the images are posted here on Patch.

Police urge anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect to contact police dispatch at 856-228-4500 or the township's crime tip line at 856-842-5560.

Police described the suspect as a white male who is between 30 and 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and between 170 and 190 pounds. The man reportedly was wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, a baseball hat, dark pants and white sneakers.

The suspect entered the store shortly before 11 p.m., poured himself a coffee and went to the check-out counter, where he produced a short knife and demanded the cash register's contents, Lt. Mike Harkins said.

The clerk, who was not injured in the crime, opened and stepped away from the cash register.

The suspect reached over the counter, grabbed some money and fled the store with the robbery's proceeds and coffee toward Cloverdale Road, Harkins said.
