Blackwood Apartment Fire Sends a Victim to the Hospital

A fire in an apartment in the unit block of Oak Ave. in the Blackwood section of the township Tuesday night was quickly contained, but sent one person to the hospital, a police report said.

The blaze was reported at 9:06 p.m. The Chews Landing Fire Department tamed it quickly after smoke was observed in the rear of the building. All occupants of the apartment, and the adjacent ones, were quickly evacuated without incident.

One person was taken by ambulance for emergency hospital treatment for smoke inhalation and another was treated and released on the scene. Neither victim was immediately identified.
