Blackwood Man Arrested with Illegal Gun, Hollow-Point Ammunition

The Gloucester Township man was arrested after a traffic stop.

A 24-year old Blackwood man was arrested Monday and charged with having an illegal gun and hollow-point bullets.

Stephen Jones, of 590 Lower Landing Road, was a rear-seat passenger in a car police stopped for a traffic violation at 11:53 p.m. near Blackwood-Clementon and Little Gloucester Roads. Police said Jones had a Glock 21, .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun loaded with 13 rounds of hollow-point bullets in an open bag.

Jones was taken to Camden County jail and held on a $25,000 bail.

The driver of the vehicle, Khrisanto Escobar, also of Blackwood, was issued several motor vehicle summonses and released pending a future court date. The initial car stop was because Escobar allegedly drove through the parking lot of a near-by business in an attempt to avoid a red traffic signal.
