A 67-year-old woman was killed Sunday night by a hit-and-run driver outside of Rexy's Restaurant and Bar in Haddon Township's West Collingswood Heights section.

Joyce Putmon of Blackwood was crossing the Black Horse Pike near Washington Avenue when a pickup truck struck her and fled the scene. Putmon was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital in Camden at 7:24 p.m. March 3.

The pickup truck, traveling southbound, had a homemade structure in the flatbed area, according to witness' descriptions. The structure is possibly a produce box. The truck is white with a gray back and missing a headlamp lens and amber turn signal lens. It may be a Chevrolet or GMC, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The driver turned right onto Main Street toward the American Asphalt Company after striking Putmon.

Police shut down Black Horse Pike's southbound lanes in front of Rexy's after the crash, as investigators examined the roadway littered with scattered plastic bags and personal effects.

Anyone who can identify the pickup truck driver is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Doug Rowand at 856-225-8400 or Haddon Township Police at 856-854-1176. Information may also be emailed to ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.

Saw this on the news. Very sad. I hope that they are able to locate the driver or that he has a flash of conscience and comes forward!
