Camden County Man Admits Running Guns, Faces Decades in Prison

A Woodlynne man who admitted running at least 100 illegal guns to drug dealers in Camden, while dealing PCP and cocaine himself, now faces a total of up to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges Wednesday.

Terrance Laboo, also known as “Terrance Reeves,” 40, moved handguns via a straw purchaser and his network in Ohio, funneling the weapons into Camden, where he admitted selling them to other dealers from his drug corner at 4 th and Chestnut, in the city's Bergen Square neighborhood.

Laboo spent nearly two years, between December 2009 and September 2011, buying and selling the illegal guns, according to court documents, working with Joshua Jackson, who went by the nicknames “Apple” and “Trent,” 33, of Willingboro, who also had an address in Columbus, Ohio.

Jackson would buy guns at gun shows in Ohio, according to Laboo's plea, looking for unlicensed gun sellers not subject to background checks, or would buy guns through straw purchasers who visited gun shops in various towns in Ohio.

Jackson moved the guns from Ohio to New Jersey, where he sold them to Laboo and two others, accoding to court documents, and Laboo admitted to knowing the guns were coming from out-of-state.

“Today Terrance Laboo admitted he poisoned the streets of Camden with dangerous drugs and deadly weapons,” said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman in a statement. “Criminals who exploit the laws of other states to bring guns into New Jersey fuel a culture of violence that destroys communities and lives.”

Laboo pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler in Camden federal court to charges of dealing firearms without a license, conspiracy to deal in firearms without a federal firearms license, possession of firearms by a convicted felon and distribution of PCP.

The charges carry possible penalties of a total of 40 years in prison and fines totaling $1.5 million; Laboo will find out his sentence during a Jan. 14, 2014 court date.
