Car Hits Pole, Rolls Over on Erial Road

The two-car accident occurred near Deer Park Circle just before 9 a.m. Thursday.

A two-car accident on Erial Road Thursday morning resulted in one of the cars striking a pole and rolling over onto its roof, but police reported neither driver sustained serious injuries.

The accident was reported to police at 8:52 a.m.

A southbound vehicle struck another vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway. The vehicle struck a utility pole on the side of the road, then rolled onto its roof, Gloucester Township Police Lt. Robert Stavola said.

The overturned vehicle's driver was extricated from her car by members of the Lambs Terrace, Erial and Pine Hill fire stations, then transported to Cooper University Hospital, in Camden.

The second vehicle's driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The utility pole was severed in the crash, Stavola said, and later replaced by utility workers.

Erial Road was closed between Hickstown Road and College Drive for about an hour as police investigated the crash.

Police did not release the names of the drivers.
