A one-car accident Tuesday afternoon on Coles Road pinned one person under the flipped car and sent three people to the hospital.
The wreck was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the unit block of Coles Road near the Route 42 on ramp in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township. The car slammed into a utility pole, which came out of the ground.
Two of the car's occupants were able to extricate themselves, while a third was pinned through the sunroof and unable to move when crews arrived, Gloucester Township Police said. That person was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden; the other two occupants were transported by ambulance to the hospital. There was no immediate word on their conditions and police didn't release their names pending family notification.
Coles Road remains closed between Route 42 and the Black Horse Pike at this hour as crews work on restoring electricity.
The police department's Traffic Safety Bureau Serious Crash Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
