After Being Pinned Under Car, Crash Victim Airlifted to Cooper

Three people were taken to Cooper University Hospital after the 3:30 p.m. one-car crash on Tuesday in Blackwood.

A one-car accident Tuesday afternoon on Coles Road pinned one person under the flipped car and sent three people to the hospital.

The wreck was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. in the unit block of Coles Road near the Route 42 on ramp in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township. The car slammed into a utility pole, which came out of the ground.

Two of the car's occupants were able to extricate themselves, while a third was pinned through the sunroof and unable to move when crews arrived, Gloucester Township Police said. That person was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden; the other two occupants were transported by ambulance to the hospital. There was no immediate word on their conditions and police didn't release their names pending family notification.

Coles Road remains closed between Route 42 and the Black Horse Pike at this hour as crews work on restoring electricity.

The police department's Traffic Safety Bureau Serious Crash Investigation Team is investigating the accident.

Saying prayers for those involved, that they may recover from any and all injuries. God Bless!

I have a friend who flipped a car doing 35. She also hit a pole at a speed of 35 or so, during the day. It was the pole that caused the flip, not a flip into the pole. As the car hits the pole it sort of rides up it and gets to a point where it tips. Having known someone else who did it I can believe they were not drinking. I will say that the person who was partly out the sunroof was Probably not belted. That does not make them stupid or anything. It was probably a back seat passenger. I am very fanatic about seat belts in the front, not so much in the back. I wonder if the roof was open or if the glass actually broke. This type of thing is why convertibles scare me. I hope everybody will be ok.

Making snarky comments before there is any information on the cause of the accident is uncalled for. It is also nasty and mean. There are many reasons this accident could have happened, not all of them involve driver error. Let's think of the people who were hurt and wait until the police report is released before making comments about drinking and seat belts. David

Exactly where does it say they did not have on seat belts? I think we all know what happens when we ASSume things....

Your compassion for human life clearly knows no bounds.

Unfortunately, because of the location (near Skeeter's) and the fact that it was a one-vehicle accident people will probably assume there was alcohol involved and because one of the occupants was partially ejected through the sunroof will fuel the 'no seatbelt' theory as well. I hope the occupants are all okay, they are lucky to have survived.
David Hackney March 20, 2013 at 05:53 PM
I agree that people will speculate, but referring to the injured as "idiots" goes over the line into indecency. Seat belts do save lives. I worry about the young people I know who think they are immortal and don't use their them.
Nancy Miller March 20, 2013 at 07:00 PM
My prayers go out to all. I also don't think about using seatbelt in the back seat. Maybe we should think twice about it. Nobody should guess or pass judgment on anyone, or anything. Just thank God they are alive, and the one with serious injuries will be OK.
sherri March 20, 2013 at 07:09 PM
ok this is the sister of the driver of the car,,,,no they were not coming from skeeters and i cant tell u if they had there seat belts on or not. they were coming from my sister in laws brothers house past deptford. but the main thing they r all gonna be ok,,and nobody else got hurt. anybody that wants to call somebody an idiot after a horrible accident no matter what the cause was..wether seat belts or no seat belts is just insane
David Hackney March 20, 2013 at 07:58 PM
sherri, glad everyone will recover. Best of luck to your three family members.

I wasn't accusing anyone of drinking just asked :) hope all is well. And 98% of people on here say stupid stuff just to get off on upsetting other ppl. Just try not to let it bother you. I kno easier said then done but... sometimes you have to deal with jerk offs
Tara Feeley March 20, 2013 at 10:34 PM
the initial report said 2 passengers were ejected. hence the no seat belt comment.
Glenn g March 20, 2013 at 11:11 PM
Tara read the report you commented on one person was trapped the other 2 got out on their own. Even if they weren't wearing a seat belt where do you come off calling them idiots. I am almost positive you smoke. If their was a story on here saying you were diagnosed with lung cancer would you or your family would appreciate similar remarks
Nancy Miller March 21, 2013 at 02:54 AM
Sherri, Don't pay attention to anyone trying to be a no it all. I am do glad they are OK. People please If you don't have anything nice or caring to say don't say anything at all...Will still keep you all in my prayers...
Roger Delgado March 21, 2013 at 03:02 AM
I agree, let's be thankful no one was killed and let's hope for a full and speedy recovery to whomever was medivaced to Cooper.
Rose Humphrey March 21, 2013 at 06:46 PM

christina Gotts March 21, 2013 at 09:58 PM
Sherri glad to hear every one of our family members are ok. And Tara do you know how idiotic and immature you are to post something so heartless. Just a bit of advice, karma isn't pretty when the shoe is on the other foot!
Charles March 22, 2013 at 02:32 PM
Why are tragic accidents an excuse to babble? Sherri et al, try to ignore "idiots" (whose functional level may be the "id" ) and continue to thank God for their lives and healing. Our prayers are with them and you.
