Cinnaminson Residents Charged With Crime Spree to Score Heroin

The trio is charged with nine armed robberies.

A trio of Cinnaminson residents previously charged with armed robberies in Camden and Burlington counties were charged with additional robberies in Maple Shade, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Maple Shade Police Chief Gary Gubbei announced Friday afternoon.

Officials believe they were using the money from a series of nine armed robberies to purchase heroin.

Elizabeth A. Albertson, 28, Charles Richards, 28, and Bryan Hawthorne, 26, were all charged with the January 14 armed robbery of the Sunoco gas station and the January 21 of the Country Farms convenience store, both located on Route 73 South.

Hawthorne and Richards are charged with robbing both locations using a firearm, while Albertson is charged with being the driver.

Richards and Albertson were also charged with the armed robbery of the Good Spirits Liquor Store in the 100 block of West Main Street on Feb. 6.

The specific charges are as follows:

·      Richards and Hawthorne were charged with armed robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in the Jan. 14 robbery. Richards was additionally charged with certain persons not to have weapons. Albertson was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy;

·      Hawthorne was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in the Jan. 21 robbery. Albertson and Richards were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy; and

·      Richards was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in the Feb. 6 robbery. Albertson was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy.

Previously, all three were charged in connection with the robbery of a 7-11 in Mount Laurel on Jan. 16; the robbery of a Food Mart in Delran on Jan. 26; The Wine Nova Store in Stratford on Feb. 2; Pike Liquors in Lindenwold on Feb. 4; and Richards Liquors in Gloucester Township on Feb. 4.

Hawthorne and Richards were also charged conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with a plot to rob a liquor store in Florence.

Richards and Albertson were charged in connection with the robbery of The Liquor Mill in Magnolia on Jan 13.

An investigation revealed the defendants used proceeds from the robberies to buy heroin in Camden, officials said.

Hawthorne and Richards had a first appearance in Burlington County Superior Court Friday. Bail was set at $325,000 for Hawthorne and $400,000 for Richards.

Agencies working together to investigate the recent string of armed robberies include the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Cinnaminson Police Department, Delran Police Department, Florence Police Department, Gloucester Township Police Department, Lindenwold Police Department, Lumberton Police Department, Magnolia Police Department, Maple Shade Police Department, Moorestown Police Department, Mount Laurel Police Department, New  Jersey State Police, Palmyra Police Department, Pennsauken Police Department and Stratford Police Department.
