Coles Road Closed on Tuesday for Bishop's Installation

Coles Road will be closed between Peters Lane and Little Gloucester Road from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Coles Road will be closed Tuesday between Peters Lane and Little Gloucester Road from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m., according to Gloucester Township Police.

The installation of Dennis Sullivan as the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Camden will take place during Mass Tuesday beginning 2 p.m. at St. Agnes Church (Our Lady of Hope Parish). Because of limited seating, admission is by ticket only. The ceremony will be broadcast live on EWTN (check cable listings in your area) and will stream live at www.camdendiocese.org.

Sullivan was named as Joseph A. Galante's replacement in early January.

The marked detours route for this closure is as follows: For eastbound traffic, the detour route is Coles Road to Peters Lane to Blackwood Clementon Road to Little Gloucester Toad. For westbound traffic on Hider Lane/Coles Road, the detour is Little Gloucester Road to Blackwood Clementon Road to Peters Lane to Coles Road.

Officers will be on location at both closure points to assist as needed. To avoid delays, drivers should seek an alternate route of travel.

For any questions regarding the closure, contact the Gloucester Township Police Traffic Services Bureau at 856-374-5715.

I wish all the best to Bishop Sullivan. I really do, it is a joyous occasion. Motor traffic may have needed to be halted during the installation to prevent tie-ups and to aid in the in- and out-flow of guests. However, nobody told us that PEDESTRIANS (!?) would be barred from walking down Coles Road. I have lived in Player's Place for 24 years and have never imagined that I would be prevented from walking down my street except for an emergency that could result in injury. What can be the reason? Can this even be legal?

Sorry we're just seeing this now, Dorothy. The closure only applied to motor vehicle traffic.
