Couple Displaced by Early Morning Fire

A 4 a.m. fire on Lincoln Drive forced a couple from their home.

An early morning fire in the township's Laurel Springs section forced a couple from their home.

Chews Landing Fire Department was dispatched to 4 Lincoln Dr., near Chews Landing Road, at 4:07 a.m. Thursday. A short time after the first firefighters arrived to the scene, the blaze was upgraded to a two-alarm fire, drawing response from additional fire departments.

It appears following preliminary investigation that the fire started in a bathroom fan, according to the fire department. The investigation is ongoing.

The couple who lives in the home reportedly will be staying with relatives in the area until their home is again inhabitable.

The home is owned by William J. A. Gallagher, according to tax records.

In addition to the initial-responding Chews Landing firefighters, the second alarm drew firefighters from Blackwood, Blenheim, Glendora, Pine Hill, Hi-Nella and Bellmawr.

The scene was cleared at 5:55 a.m.
