Craigslist Leads to Trouble for Gloucester Twp. Teens

Two Gloucester Township teens were robbed at gunpoint on Nov. 27 after returning to Salem to purchase two cell phones from a man they met through Craigslist a few weeks earlier, according to a report published on NJ.com.

The teens, ages 14 and 17, successfully purchased a cell phone two weeks prior to the late-November robbery from the man now accused of robbing them, Salem City Police Chief John Pelura III told South Jersey Times.

After the seller contacted them about more two more cheap cell phones, the two teens agreed to meet the man at East Broadway and Elm Street around 8 p.m. Nov. 27.

That's where Salem City police say Vonell Clayton, 22, of Union Street, Salem, robbed the boys of $400 at gunpoint.

Clayton has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, South Jersey Times reported. He was lodged in Salem County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail.
