Driver in Fatal Valleybrook Crash Victim's Husband

Police say charges will not be filed against the man in connection with Friday's accident.

An Ocean County man who struck his wife with a car in Valleybrook Friday morning, resulting in her death, will not face charges in connection with the accident, according to police.

Noreen (nee Walsh) Covert, 67, of Ship Bottom, died late Friday night at Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, about 12 hours after she was run over by a car operated by her husband on Greens Way in Valleybrook.

The couple was visiting someone on Greens Way.

Because he will not face criminal charges or be issued tickets in connection with the accident, police are not releasing the husband's name or other personal identifying information about him, Gloucester Township Police Lt. Brian McKendry said Monday.

While backing out of a Greens Way driveway, the husband struck Covert, then two parked vehicles, according to police investigation. The driver was not injured.

First responders found Covert seriously injured in the driveway when they arrived on the scene around 11:13 a.m.
