DWI Charge for Driver in a 2-Vehicle Crash

A 32-year-old Deptford man was also charged with assault by motor vehicle.

A 32-year-old Deptford man was hit with a DWI and assault charge for a two-vehicle accident Saturday that sent two people to the hospital, according to Gloucester Township Police.

Police say an investigation determined Andrew Peirano Jr, of Second Avenue, smashed his Dodge pickup truck into the back of a Chrysler Sebring on Blackwood Clementon Road at the entrance ramp to Route 42 north at 2:10 p.m.

A Pine Hill man, 40, and a Williamstown woman, 39, were taken by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, then treated and released, police said.

Peirano Jr. was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated within a school zone, three counts of assault with a motor vehicle and with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

He was taken to the Camden County jail and held on a $15,000 bail.
