Forklift Joyride Reveals Burglary

Three teens reportedly ransack a business, stealing forklifts and computers.

You know there’s something fishy going on when a trio of teens is spotted driving forklifts through town on a Saturday morning.

Three juveniles did a poor job of covering up their alleged burglary after they were seen driving the forklifts on 8th Avenue, in Gloucester Township’s Glendora section.

Responding to reports of the sighting, found two forklifts stuck in an 8th Avenue backyard. They also found evidence of a collision between a forklift and a Dodge pickup truck on the street.

An investigation revealed that the forklifts came from an Austin Avenue business—and that business had been recently burgled, with evidence of vandalism and ransacking that caused thousands of dollars in damage, police said.

The juveniles didn’t stop there, according to reports. Numerous computers were stolen from the business, plus the juveniles allegedly moved a Volvo tractor trailer across the storage yard. One of the juveniles had the keys when officers detained the group, police said.

To add insult to injury, the suspected burglars left the business vulnerable by destroying a security fence as they drove the forklifts through it.

Officers recovered some of the stolen items, according to reports.

Police aren’t releasing the names or addresses of the suspects due to their age. All three face one or more charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
