Police this week charged a Gloucester Township resident with sexual assault and authorities are investigating whether he could be linked to other unsolved rapes in Lindenwold.
Patrick English, 26, of the LaCascata Apartments, was charged Tuesday with sexual assault for a September 2010 rape. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said DNA results received this week linked English to the rape of a woman on Holland Avenue in Lindenwold.
English already is in Camden County Jail on charges of aggravated assault for a reported attack on a pregnant woman in September 2010 at Arborwood Apartments in Lindenwold.
In that incident, police said English entered the woman’s apartment, grabbed her by the hair and attempted to drag her toward the bedroom. She resisted and English stabbed her in the torso with a knife he was carrying and fled, police said.
The woman knew English and identified him even though the assailant wore a mask and gloves. The woman later gave birth to a healthy baby, police added.
Now county officers and Lindenwold Police are investigating two unsolved sexual assaults at Arborwood Apartments that occurred around the same time as the incidents English is charged in. The assailant in both cases wore a mask and gloves and carried a knife.
Anyone with information on English or other similar incidents should contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. Bill Townsend at 856-225-8400 or the Lindenwold Police Department at 856-784-7566.
