UPDATE: Gloucester Police Investigating Two Suspicious Incidents

UPDATE: The Gloucester Township Police located the 1993-1997 dark green Nissan Pickup that was reported as suspicious on November 13, 2013.

The driver and vehicle has been identified as a local resident who was in the area for legitimate purposes. At this time, the dark green Nissan Pickup is not believed to be involved in any criminal activity, police said.

The Gloucester Township Police Department is investigating two suspicious vehicle Incidents which have recently occurred in the Breckenridge Development of Gloucester Township.

On Tueday, at approximately 3:52 pm, police responded to Sugarbush and Breckenridge drives on a report of a suspicious white van in the area.

It was reported that the van was traveling down Sugarbush Drive from the area of Kearsley Road towards Breckenridge Drive. A 12-year-old female was walking to the bus stop which is located at Sugarbush Drive, and observed the van driving towards her, police said.

The van stopped just past the 12 year old female, and backed up towards her. An alert adult neighbor was also walking to the bus stop at the same time but was on the opposite side of the street, and she also observed the van, police said.

When the neighbor observed the van reverse direction and back up, she thought it was suspicious ,so she crossed the street and walked over to the 12-year-old female, police said.

When the driver of the van saw them, he put the van in drive and turned left on to Breckenridge Drive. The neighbor stated that it appeared as though the van was looking for an address, may have just missed a turn, and then backed up to make the turn.

The male driver never made any gesture nor said anything to the 12-year-old female, police said.

The van was described as a white work style van with no markings or side windows, with tinted windows, a silver ladder with a red rope hanging from the rear of the ladder.

The driver was described as a heavy set white male, late 40s or early 50s, possibly wearing glasses, and a dark jacket and dark hat.

On Wednesday, at approximately 7:19 am, a 16-year-old female waiting at a bus stop on Breckenridge Drive noticed an occupied Nissan pickup truck. The vehicle was occupied by a white male with dark hair, heavy set, unshaven, wearing a dark brown jacket, police said.

The vehicle was reported to have driven up and stopped. The driver did not make any gestures or attempt to speak to the 16-year-old female. The vehicle then left the area.

The Gloucester Township Police Department will continue to investigate these incidents, and the public is requested to call 911 if they observe suspicious activity.
