Gloucester Township High-Wire Rescue

The Chews Landing Fire Department sprang into action Monday to rescue two workers trapped 50-feet above the roadway.

Two workers Monday repairing a high-power, electrical wire on the Black Horse Pike near Maple Avenue were rescued by the Chews Landing Fire Department Monday after a lift they were using malfunctioned, leaving them stranded, a police report said.

Firefighters retrieved the workers from 50 feet above the roadway shortly before 1 p.m. with the help of a ladder truck. No injuries were reported.

Police were alerted when another utility worker on the ground flagged down a patrol car. The crew was stranded for about 45 minutes.
