Gloucester Twp., Winslow Twp. PDs to Run Memorial Day DWI Checkpoints

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced the Memorial Day weekend checkpoints.

The Gloucester Township Police Department and Winslow Township Police Departement will run separate DWI checkpoints Memorial Day weekend, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The Winslow Township checkpoint will be conducted on Friday, May 25, and the Gloucester Township checkpoint on Saturday, May 26.

For obvious reasons, the Prosecutor's Office does not disclose exact locations of checkpoints when it announces towns' police forces will run them.

High visibility, efficiency of enforcement and media attention have made checkpoints an effective tool in removing impaired drivers from New Jersey's roadways, helping dramatically reduce the number of DWI arrests in recent years.

The checkpoints are funded by state grants.
