The Bike Safety Rodeo is an event to help children and parents learn more about how to ride safely in order to avoid accidents that are commonplace on the road. The event is designed to provide children with fun contests and obstacle courses to ride in with their bikes, while still teaching them valuable safety lessons.

Each rider will be permitted to bring their bike to the event. GTPD will be on hand to check that each child is wearing a helmet and that it fits properly. Helmets will be available for children who do not have one that fits properly. GTPD officers will also perform bike inspections to make sure that every child's bike adheres to safety standards.

Following safety inspections, each child will be allowed to ride on a course that will not only help each child practice their riding skills, but also allow them to learn about the various safety rules and hazards that are present on the road.

Prior to the Bike Safety Rodeo, Earle will be holding a news conference to kick off the township's "101 Days of Summer"—a nationwide awareness program in which GTPD will be promoting safe driving to help create safer roadways during the busiest driving season of the year.

In addition to the police department cracking down on seat-belt safety, DWIs and other safety laws in the township, police will encourage residents to practice safe driving techniques to help reduce the number of accidents during the summer season.

Both of the events are being organized by the GTPD Community Relations Team. For additional information on either event, you can contact GTPD Community Relations at 856-228-4011 or at communityrelations@gtpolice.com.
