GTPD Releases Holiday Shopping Safety Tips

The GTPD Community Relations Bureau released a series of shopping tips on Tuesday to help residents be safe and also avoid theft during the busy holiday season.

With the holiday shopping season about to get into full swing, the has released a list tips to keep shoppers safe when they are out at the stores this upcoming month.

The GTPD's Community Relations Bureau released a safety bulletin that advises Township residents to be alert for criminal activity in stores as well as in parking lots and on the road this holiday season.

Some of the tips include shopping during daylight hours, not carrying large amounts of cash, paying for purchases with a check or credit card if possible and watching out for strangers that approach you in public.

The bulletin also has some traffic safety tips, such as to park in a well-lit area, parking as close to the location that you are visiting as possible, don't leave purchases in plain view in your vehicle and to be aware of your surrounding at all times.
