GTPD Wins First Place in NJ Law Enforcement Challenge
The contest is sponsored by the NJ Association of Chiefs of Police, NJ Office of Highway Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
The Gloucester Township Police Department released the following press release Wednesday morning:
On Tuesday, May 15, Gloucester Township Police was awarded first place for their category in the 2011 New Jersey Law Enforcement Challenge. The Law Enforcement Challenge is a traffic safety awards program that focuses on three major safety priorities: occupant protection, impaired driving and speeding. The challenge is sponsored by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, New Jersey Office of Highway Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The awards are based on entries by departments that highlight their traffic safety education and enforcement activities in the past year. Departments are evaluated on their policies and guidelines, training, incentives and recognition, public information and education, enforcement activity and effectiveness of programs for the three major safety priorities of occupant protection, impaired driving and speeding. It is these traffic safety priorities that are targeted to make a difference in the Township by reducing the frequency and severity of injuries sustained in motor vehicle crashes each year.
