Heroin Drug Bust Includes Alleged Sales Near Elementary School

Gloucester Township police charged a Somerdale man with dealing the narcotic near Glendora Elementary School.

A 36-year-old Somerdale man was arrested and charged with selling heroin within 1,000 feet of an elementary school and other related charges, Gloucester Township police said.

Authorities said Jamal Hilton sold heroin to undercover officers. He was held at the Camden County jail on a $50,000 bail.

A significant quantity of heroin was sold in the area of Rosie’s Bar and Grill in the Glendora section of the township, near Glendora Elementary School, police said.

A lengthy investigation was concluded with Hilton's arrest on Oct. 22 at his home in the 100 block of Somerdale Road.

Local authorities have implemented a number of initiatives to combat a growing use of heroin, including the fatal overdose of a 16-year-old Triton Regional High School student in September.
