Highland High School Briefly Evacuated After Smoke Billowed from Air Vent

No injuries were reported in the incident in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township.

Highland Regional High School was briefly evacuated Thursday morning after a faulty air vent billowed heavy smoke into part of the school, a police report said.

The incident was reported at 7:10 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Students and employees were evacuated and stood a safe distance away on the grounds surrounding the school on Erial Road in the Blackwood section of the township. The source of the smoke was discovered in an air vent near the principal's office.

School resumed at 7:45 a.m.

Three fire companies responded, including Blackwood, Chews Landing and Pine Hill.
