James Paul Taormina Indicted for TD Bank Heist, Other Charges Pending

Taormina faces charges in a slew of crimes in Camden and Gloucester counties, including two robberies of Gloucester Township 7-Eleven stores.

An alleged serial convenience store robber has been indicted on the first of a slew of charges from robberies in Gloucester and Camden counties.

James Paul Taormina, 30, of Clementon, was indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury this week for a on Feb. 10, and faces a second-degree robbery charge for that alleged heist.

In all, Taormina allegedly hit at least eight different locations across two counties over a two-week period in February, coming away with cash in six robberies, including the TD Bank robbery. He allegedly robbed , Gloucester Township and Cherry Hill, in addition to the bank job.

, after a multi-jurisdictional investigation, when members of the U.S. Marshal’s and Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office’s fugitive task forces arrested him at a Maple Shade motel where he’d holed up.

Surveillance photos from the robberies, as well as unsuccessful robberies in Glassboro and Washington Township, showed Taormina in what became a uniform of sorts—a gray hooded sweatshirt and black baseball cap—as he brandished either a knife or a hammer while allegedly robbing 7-Elevens in Gloucester Township and One Stop Shoppes in West Deptford.

In at least two of the convenience store robberies, Taormina allegedly grabbed a cup of coffee or another item before going up to the register to rob the cash register.

There are additional charges pending indictment against Taormina, including the West Deptford charges and those in Camden County, which would be heard by a grand jury in Camden.
