Juveniles Charged with Burglary, Trespassing

Four boys were found trespassing in a Prospect Avenue towing compound on Monday.

Police arrested four juveniles for trespassing and allegedly breaking into a vehicle in a tow yard on Prospect Avenue, in the township's Blackwood section, Memorial Day afternoon.

A vehicle's hood was reportedly damaged when the trespassing juveniles jumped on it.

The police department received a report at 2:43 p.m. Monday that four boys were entering vehicles parked in the fenced-in impound lot for Bernie's Auto Repair & Towing. Three bike-patrol officers who were already in the area quickly responded to the scene and apprehended one of the trespassing suspects.

A second suspect was picked up by responding patrol officers, while the third and fourth suspects were subsequently located and detained by bike-patrol officers.

Police confirmed that one car parked in the impound yard had been burglarized and its contents removed.

The boys, whom police are not identifying due to their juvenile status, were released to parents/guardians.

They are to be charged on juvenile petitions with criminal trespass, burglary, theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest, police announced this afternoon.

Gloucester Township Police officers involved in the investigation were Sgt. Mark Benton, Ptl. Tom Wynne, Ptl. Adam McKillop, Ptl. Joe Cerquoni, Ptl. David Vannoni and Inv. Bernard Dougherty.
