Juveniles Charged With Car Burglaries in Gloucester Township

The boys allegedly stole items from 12 vehicles Tuesday morning.

Two 17-year-old juvenile boys were charged in connection with a rash of car burglaries Tuesday morning, Gloucester Township Police announced.

The boys, one of Blackwood and one of Gibbsboro, were charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, obstruction, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Police reported to the 100 block of Hidden Drive at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday morning after two residents reported two people attempting to break into their cars.

Police encountered the boys along Hidden Drive. The boys fled into a wooded area, but were captured following a brief foot chase.

Police recovered a quantity of stolen items they say the boys took from 12 vehicles along the wooded path. Police returned much of the property to the rightful owners.

The boys were processed and then housed at the Camden County Youth Center in Lakeland pending action by the Family Court.
