Juveniles Plead Guilty as Adults in 2013 Murder of Gloucester Township Man

Two juveniles pleaded guilty to the murder of a Gloucester Township man at Autumn Ridge Apartments in 2013, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle announced Tuesday evening.

Jevon Coleman Robinson, 16, of Edgewater Park, and Isaac Mimes, 18, of Willingboro, were waived to adult court before pleading guilty on Tuesday.

Coleman Robinson pleaded guilty as an adult to aggravated manslaughter and aggravated assault. He is expected to be sentenced to 23 years incarceration for aggravated manslaughter, 85 percent of which must be served before he is parole eligible. He is further expected to be sentenced to 10 years incarceration for aggravated assault. He would serve that sentence concurrently to the first sentence.

Mimes pleaded guilty as an adult to a count of armed robbery, and is expected to be sentenced to a term of 12 years incarceration. He would have to serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Both are scheduled to be sentenced on April 25, and will remain in the Camden County Juvenile Detention Facility until then.

Coleman Robinson and Mimes admitted on Tuesday they intended to obatin marijuana from Lamar Ortiz, a 20-year-old resident of the Autumn Ridge Apartments in Gloucester Township, on July 15, 2013. They said they had no intentions of paying for it.

They admitted to contacting a friend who knew Ortiz and drove with him and a fourth man to Ortiz’s apartment. The fourth man was Joshua Texiador, 20, of Westampton.

Mimes admitted he knew Coleman Robinson was carrying a concealed handgun.

When they arrived, Ortiz came to the vehicle’s passenger window and talked with the group. They asked him to show them the marijuana they wanted to buy and he refused. When they insisted he walked away from the car. Coleman Robinson then drew his gun and pointed it at Ortiz.

Ortiz’s friend attempted to grab the gun, but Coleman Robinson fought him off by repeatedly hitting him in the head. He then shot and killed Ortiz.

Texiador is charged with felony murder and robbery. His case is pending prosecution.
