Lilley Elementary Secured after Parent Hears Gunshots
The Gloucester Township school remained open during the incident and no injuries were immediately reported.
A precautionary security procedure was initiated at J.W. Lilley Elementary School on Wednesday after a parent dropping off their child reported hearing gunshots coming from a nearby wooded area in the 1200 block of Williamstown Road.
Police responded with a "large" search of the surrounding area which didn't turn up anything. Authorities said there was also a report of a hunter in the area and a special deer-permit hunting season is underway.
The school remained open during the incident and no injuries were immediately reported. The investigation is on going.
