Lindenwold Man Wanted in Erial Gunfire Arrested in North Jersey

The incident occurred June 3 on Hampshire Road.

A Lindenwold man charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident in which he allegedly fired a gun at several people on Hampshire Road, in the township's Erial section, earlier this month was arrested Thursday in North Jersey.

Gloucester Township Police Department received a report of gunfire at 58 Hampshire Rd. at 7:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 3.

Arriving officers found evidence a gun had been fired in the Brittany Woods development, including bullet strikes to the Hampshire Road home, but no one had been shot or otherwise injured, according to Deputy Chief David Harkins.

Detectives identified Danilo Leonen, 21, of Laurel Hill Apartments, Lindenwold, as the shooter following a comprehensive investigation that included interviews of the intended victims, Harkins said.

Police signed complaints against Leonen for attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose on June 7.

Gloucester Township Police and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force initiated a manhunt for Leonen—a township police officer is assigned to the task force.

Leonen was tracked to Patterson, where he was arrested by the task force on the city's East 26th Street Thursday.

He was returned to Camden County and has been lodged in the county jail without bail.
