Man Stabs Friend in Bank Parking Lot

Gloucester Township Police arrest a Sewell man who stabbed his friend, then fled the scene.

If “a true friend stabs you in the front,” what does a stab in the hand make you?

It’s a question Michael Celia, 22, can ponder in jail after allegedly stabbing a friend in the hand Saturday morning.

said Celia, of Sewell, fought with a friend around 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of on Blackwood-Clementon Road. The fight escalated until Celia allegedly stabbed his friend in a vehicle.

The friend, whom police did not name, was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was expected to be released Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Celia fled the scene. Patrolman Nick Katz located the suspect on College Drive and attempted to pull him over, but Celia fled the scene once more, going onto Route 42, where police lost sight of the car.

Minutes later, Patrolman Lisa Hatcher and Patrolman Tim Kohlymer located Celia and took him into custody without incident.

Celia is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, eluding, possession of a hypodermic needle, driving under the influence and various motor vehicle offenses.

He was transported to Camden County Jail in default of $125,000 cash bail.
