Motorcyclist Critical, No Charges Yet in Route 295 Crash

The crash leaves Dane Walker in the hospital, but the investigation into the accident is continuing, police said.

No charges have been filed yet following in West Deptford for several hours Monday, State Police said Tuesday.

The initial reports indicated motorcyclist Dane Walker, 48, while trying to cross from the far right lane to the far left lane, police said.

Walker may have been speeding and weaving through traffic prior to the crash, Sgt. Brian Polite said, referencing the initial investigation.

Walker was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden following the crash, where he was in critical but stable condition. Several people who drove through the crash scene reported blood splashed on the median barrier near Walker’s wrecked bike, which came to rest between Exits 22 and 23, in the area of West Deptford High School.

Charges may still be filed in the crash—state troopers were on the scene for several hours following the incident, and Polite said it’s still considered an active investigation.

Walker, who is listed as the vice president of the Deptford-based NeX Level motorcycle club on the club’s website, highlights his hobby on his Facebook page. Besides featuring several photos of him racing a bright-yellow Honda sport bike with an Autobots logo at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, Walker references going 140 mph during one raceway run.

Family members and friends left messages of support for Walker on Facebook in the hours after the accident.

"Sending get well wishes and prayers your way big cousin," Kylena Lee wrote late Monday night. "Stay strong and keep your head up."

I see this every morning going Northbound. There is never a police officer in sight. It is scray for the motorists and ridiculous. I don't know who or what these fools think they are but they obviously think they are more important and better than a motorist.

Riding a Motorcycle is dangerous enough in today's congested streets to add poor driving skills is a ticket to the morgue. Stopped driving around here years ago when a driver in a car almost ran me into a guardrail, she was combing her hair while driving on North 295 if I didn't react as fast as I did would have been road kill.
