Murder-Suicide in Magnolia, Prosecutor Says

A husband and wife died in the incident Wednesday night.

A Magnolia resident shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself Wednesday night, the first murder in the 1-square-mile borough since 2008, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk said.

Police were responding to a home in the 300 block of Washington Avenue East when Henry Yip, 66, shot Vicki Yip, 54, then killed himself, Faulk said.

Relatives had called police around 7 p.m. to ask officers check on the couple, Faulk said, after getting what the prosecutor said was an alarming phone call from Henry Yip.

The officer who arrived on scene saw a person inside the home, Faulk said, then heard a gunshot. At nearly the same time, Faulk said, Henry Yip called the county 911 center, told them he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself.
