No ID Yet on Dead Woman's Body, Officials Say

The badly decomposed body was found Monday near Lakeview Apartments in Gloucester Township.

Authorities are still working to identify the dead body found in the woods near Lakeview Apartments, as officials must rely on dental records, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.

The body was discovered Monday morning by a state police K-9 unit and Gloucester Township police. The search was prompted by a report of a missing woman who lived in the complex. Carol Reiff, 59, was reported missing Saturday by family members who had last spoken with her on Thursday. Her car was found in front of her apartment.

"Due to the condition of the remains, the Medical Examiner’s office is using dental records to identify the woman," a statement from the prosecutor said. "As soon as the person is identified and her family is notified we will release her identity, along with the conclusions of an autopsy."

Anyone with information on this woman’s death is urged to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Chuck Farrell at 856-225-8653 or Gloucester Township Police Detective Bill Westphal at 856-228-4500.

Information may also be emailed to ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org or sent anonymously to the GTPD Anonymous Crime Tip Line: 856-842-5560.

Meanwhile some Lakeview residents say they don't feel safe in the wake of the body discovery.
