No Injuries in Blackwood Fire

The morning fire was contained to one apartment.

No one was injured in a Blackwood apartment fire this morning, according to police.

Firefighters from several township fire companies, including Blackwood, and other towns responded to the fire at 15 Prospect Ave.

The sole occupant of the apartment where the fire occurred was at work at the time, according to Gloucester Township Police Lt. Mike Harkins. The victim, whose apartment is uninhabitable, has been contacted by the Red Cross.

The fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Arriving police units found smoke coming from the apartment, and evacuated other residents in the apartment building.

It tooks about six minutes for firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

In addition to Blackwood, firefighters from Blenheim, Chews Landing, Lambs Terrace, Deptford and Pine Hill fire stations assisted with the fire.

The fire remains under investigation by police and the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office.
